Welcome Page

Hello there! This page has been created by Natalee Schiavoni and Kimberly Cayamcela to teach you, yes you, about rocks and how to classify them.

INTRODUCTION
Rocks are studied by Geologists because in order to obtain information about what Earth was like in the past, classifying rocks helps to do so. It also helps with identifying plants as well as tracing events that occurred before the existence of humans. Furthermore, this helps better understand our effects on the environment and its potential on us. For example, by understanding where earthquakes have occurred in the past, we cab have a much better idea of where they are most likely to occur in the future and can be prepared for them. By having an understanding of how planets work, we can better predict how the Earth will react to changes. For example, if we understand how the Earth and its life responded to temperature changes in the past, we might better understand the effects of the global warming that is happening today.
